The idea behind our mileage program is to increase participation in our chapter’s scheduled club rides and to give our members an incentive to post their own rides on our forum enough in advance for other members to participate.
There are several ways you can earn club mileage:
1. Scheduled Club Rides: These rides appear on our websites monthly calendar and usually result in a post in the forum and a reminder email. The mileage to be awarded for the ride will be listed in the calendar and will be calculated on the intended route. Taking a longer route than intended will generally not increase the miles however the Road Captain for the ride may address any needed changes with the 1st and 2nd officers if deemed necessary. For a Scheduled Club Ride we will award club miles regardless of the number of riders.
2. Forum posted day-rides: These may be posted on the Forum by any member. The rides must be posted a minimum of 72 hours in advance to allow other members a chance to participate. For these rides, there must be a minimum of 3 registered Ore-Ida members riding motorcycles to qualify for club miles (not counting passengers). In most cases a posted ride that conflicts with a Scheduled Club Ride will earn no miles, however there may be occasions of two Scheduled Club Rides on the same day. In that event both rides, being Scheduled Club Rides, mileage would be awarded for the participants of each respective ride.
3. Forum posted overnight rides: These may be posted on the Forum by any member. The rides must be posted a minimum of 7 days in advance to allow other members who chose to participate a chance to make necessary reservations and arrangements. If there are at least 5 chapter members riding motorcycles, we will give club mileage and also give club miles to one additional member who may be driving a support vehicle
4. Rallies, charity and other major events: As a chapter of the SCRC we want encourage support of other SCRC Chapters as well as other riding clubs with their charity events and other functions, so periodically we will list events we are supporting. These events may or may not result in miles depending upon various circumstances, however if miles are to be awarded they will be shown in the calendar listing along with the means of each riders participation being recognized.
5. Membership meetings. 50 miles are awarded for attendance at scheduled club meetings.
Miles listed for a ride or event are what will be awarded regardless of individual riders odometer readings. If an error is made in mileage, the Road Captain for that ride is responsible for any corrections.
